Dear Advent Families,
Welcome to a new school year! I am so excited to get to know your children and watch them grow. With each new school year comes new experiences: new lockers, new classmates, new classrooms, new teachers, and so much more!
I am beyond thrilled to serve as the Director of Student Services. My department will offer each student and family an extra layer of academic, social, and emotional support. I will provide monthly guidance lessons to each grade starting in Kindergarten, track student progress, collaborate with parents, guardians, teachers, and administrators, provide education regarding students’ social-emotional development, and promote a safe school climate built on trust and respect. And those are just a few of my goals for this year!
Another new experience your student will encounter at Advent this year is getting to know me as the School Counselor. I am a parent of two Advent students: Will – 6th Grade and Emma – 4th Grade. I have taught several grades and subjects for five years at Advent, and I am the wife of an alum (Burton Dunn, ℅ ‘86). You could say that my family and I are “All in!” as we truly believe in the Advent product!
If at any point you have questions about your child’s ability to be successful at Advent or need a listening ear, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and your child’s teacher. We want to work together to ensure that each child is equipped with the best tools for their toolbox.
Throughout the year, I will be posting more blogs that will contain information about your child’s development. We will also reach out to other experts within the community and host parent information sessions.
I am so blessed to serve in this role! It’s going to be a great year 🙂
