With Valentine’s Day last week, there has been a great deal of discussion around Advent about what “love” is.  Often, the first thought that comes to mind is… love is a feeling you have towards a family member or friend.  Whether it is with a kind word or a simple act of kindness, love is powerful.

What about a “love” for learning?  As an early childhood educator and a parent of four, I want my children and the children I teach to have a “LOVE,” a deep desire, to learn.  It is my hope to create a desire for continuous learning with my young students.

Advent embraces every aspect of learning.  From academics to the arts, Advent strives to help every child learn and grow.  It’s one of the many reasons I love being a part of Advent. I asked some parents to tell me what it is that they love about Advent. This is what they said:

“We love Advent because our child loves it and Advent has enhanced our son’s love for learning.  The school culture at Advent is nurturing and engaging while also challenging and purposeful.  Above all, our son wakes up every day and cannot wait to see his teacher and his classmates.  He cannot wait to tell me about his day when he gets in the car in the afternoon, and our conversations about school are often the subject of our dinner conversations.  Advent has quickly become an inextricable part of our family, and we know that we have found a home for our son’s early learning journeys. We also find so much comfort knowing that Advent helps develop the WHOLE child!” – parent of a Pre-K student.

“Advent is an amazing school! My husband and I have two kids that attend Advent. We could not have found a better school for our kids to attend and are absolutely pleased with our decision. Advent has a caring, small-school environment. Every teacher and staff member knows both of our kids and greets them every morning with hugs and words of encouragement. Advent’s school curriculum is rigorous and very impressive. We absolutely love and truly appreciate our amazing teachers! Lesson plans and class activities are impressive. Even the choice of their class field trips show that great care and thought have played a big part in the decisions. Knowing that choosing a school for our children was a huge decision, Advent has provided our kids with some of the best teachers, academic curriculum, and a very loving community. This has exceeded our family’s expectations! My husband and I love being a part of the Advent family and are looking forward to the years to come.” – parent of a Pre-K and a Kindergarten student.

Advent Episcopal School is a family.  It is a place where a parent can feel secure in knowing their child is cared for, loved, and valued. Love is powerful, especially at Advent.
