It is almost that time of year. We begin to wind down the current school year as we prepare to say good-bye to our graduation class.

As I reflect on the class of 2017, I am reminded of their anxious faces as they came in to “play with me.” For some, it was fun and much too short. For others, a second try was needed. Those with siblings already at the school were ready to get started.

Oh, how we forget how small they once were! That first day of Pre-K was filled with mixed emotions for both children and parents. We had smiles and tears but most of all we had joy and laughter before the day’s end. Unique to this class is the fact that all our 8th grade graduates have been here at Advent for all ten years! They have built relationships that will last a lifetime. I am confident they will stay connected with each other and with the school.

As the end draws near, and we begin the hour countdown, these students have experienced a lot this month. There has been the 8th grade play, Celebrate the Arts Day, and their last Mayfest as an Advent student. Tomorrow they have graduation. Our caterpillars are now butterflies ready to spread their wings.

I would like to take this opportunity to say “Thank you!” It has been a privilege to be a part of your child’s Advent journey. We not only say good-bye to our graduates but we also say good-bye to the families who have been with us for so many years. We bless you and encourage you to always stay in touch.

Congratulations and all the best to the class of 2017! As the saying goes, when one door closes another will open. #GoPanthers #AdventEpiscopalSchool

We look forward to opening our doors to the Class of 2027 in the fall with a whole new batch of caterpillars.
