If you haven’t noticed, it is warm outside! It is the perfect time for you and your family to take time to get outside. Advent panthers have been getting out and about this spring. One of the ways they have is by participating in the National Walk@Lunch Day®, which took place on April 26, 2017. Several of the faculty and staff members joined tens of thousands of walkers nationwide for a brisk, 30-minute walk. We went over to Linn Park and joined in on the festivities there. As a side note- Walking is great exercise! When done briskly on a regular basis, walking can help:

  • Decrease the risk of heart attack and type-2 diabetes
  • Control weight
  • Improve muscle tone
  • Reduce stress

We love that we are located downtown and having access to so many wonderful resources nearby. One of the many reasons that Birmingham is amazing is the variety and availability of wonderful parks. Advent Panthers will be visiting a couple of the parks in the month of May for Fitness Fridays. We would love for you and your family to join us during these times. We will be playing games, jumping rope, kicking balls, and just running around together. This is a great opportunity for the children to be able to play with their friends, as well as the opportunity for parents to meet other Advent families. We hope to see you there!
